With beautiful weather and ships in the background, NPAA members hosted a youth fishing clinic following day 1 weigh in of the Sault Ste Marie MWC Tournament. NPAA members, Bill VanOrnum #801, Robert Claus #385, Jason Noworatzky #686, Stephen Picht #514, Brenda Picht #513, Dan Palmo #345 and more helped educate over 100 kids and parents on different aspects of the wonderful world of fishing. Bill VanOrnum took the stage going over boating and personal safety, open and closed face fishing reels and the AIS message “clean, drain, dry.”
Multiple youths and adults stayed around well after the event to cast at the backyard bass and learn a variety of skills from the “pros”. Bill VanOrnum said “The town of Sault Ste Marie is very passionate about youth fishing, they have a youth fishing pond stocked with fish and it seems to get a lot of use. I would also like to thank the Kewadin Casino in town for all they help they have given us and keeping everything organized before and after the fishing clinic”.
All youth walked away with a fishing rod and a shirt thanks to the NPAA Future Angler Foundation. We would like to thank all of our supporting sponsors for making it possible to help educate all the kids throughout the year, without the help of all you none of this would be possible.
