NPAA Members take 3rd and 10th at MWC Event on Detroit River

Congratulations to NPAA members Jeff Manz #825 from Vanderbuilt, MI and Greg Yarbrough #903 from Port Clinton, OH for finishing 3rd and winning the $100.00 NPAA Contingency Prize on the Detroit River Masters Walleye Circuit Eastern Division Opener April 25th and 26th, 2009. Manz and Yarbrough found lots of fish on the river, jigging from 5-25ft. with 3/8oz. jigs and Berkley Gulp!
It was a rough start for the team on day one, when Yarbrough watched a snag pull his jig rod overboard while busy netting a fish for Manz. Shortly after that he asked Jeff Manz to pull another rod out of the rod locker and the high winds grabbed the walk-thru windshield and smashed his back-up rod to pieces. Yarbrough said, we were down about $750.00 in rods and reels to start the tournament, but we put on a clinic catching fish that day. We had a great program and the camera crew was with us most of the day. Even though we didn’t win, it was one of the most enjoyable tournaments I’ve had. They weighed a total of 10 fish in the two days of competition weighing 49.77lbs.
Finishing 10th was veteran MWC team, Jeff Koester #564 from Brookville, IN and Scott Rhodes #522 from Traverse City, MI. They too were finding their walleyes in the river bringing 9 fish to the scales during the two day competition weighing 43.55lbs.
Despite windy conditions, competitors found good numbers of fish on the Detroit River and the Michigan waters of Lake Erie.
The NPAA is an organization dedicated to improving and bringing professionalism to the sport of walleye fishing.
