NPAA Members Work to Grow the Sport!

NPAA members continue to grow the sport!!! This past weekend three fishing clinics were held in Minnesota and Wisconsin by NPAA Members.

On Saturday, March 5th Mark Carlyle #662, Kirt Hedquist #292, Terry Filkins $180 and Dean Kaminski #293 held the 2nd Annual Fantastic Fishing Frenzy event at the Eisenhower Community Center in Hopkins Minnesota. Close to one hundred youth and family members participated in the following events; Design-a-lure, powder coating jigs, tie-a-knot, fishing methods, fish identification, safety and casting. Besides the seminar the youths went home with fishing item sponsored by Outdoor Knowledge and YourOutdoorDestination.com .
Also on March 5th Nancy Koep #323 (One of NPAA’s newest members) held an Ice Fishing Clinic for youths in Glennwood Minnesota. Prior to the event Nancy and NPAA Member Chuck Barth #453 hosted seminars to teach the youths of safety, knots, ice fishing equipment and more. At the ice fishing event the youths were ice fishing while utilizing underwater cameras and flashers. The youths went home with ice fishing equipment that was sponsored by NPAA, Northland Tackle Company and Pure Fishing
NPAA members Scott Allen #624, Marianne Pfister Huskey #150, Matt Pikka #852, Bob Dekker #852, Jason Przekuart #169 and Greg Karch #138 hosted a Youth Fishing seminar on a Green Bay Sport Show Stage on Sunday March 6th. The seminar included a forty-five minute presentation on ‘Fishing Basics’ followed by the youths fishing in the shows trout pond. ‘Fishing Basics’ seminar included the following; safety, details on open and closed face fishing combo’s, casting, fishing identification, knots, bait, part’s of a fish and what Greg’s tackle box consisted of when he was a youth. A big thank you goes out to the NPAA for supplying T-shirts and the ‘Go Fishing’ educational books for the event. Other great prizes were donated by Bob Dekker and Rick Lax for a reproduction mount, Scott Allen for a guided fishing trip, Off Shore Tackle, Northland Tackle Company and Pure Fishing.
