April 4th, 2014 Pierre, SD- National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) members, Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) anglers along with Pure Fishing and Zippo Outdoor Brands held a Future Angler Event at Oahe Marina and Resort as part of the MWC tournament on Lake Sharpe.
Future anglers learned the fishing basics, including knot tying, different casting techniques and tips and tricks to stay safe on the water. The Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) message was not left out– kids were educated on how to stop the spread of the demoralizing species.
Each child attendee was given a rod/reel combo and a Future Angler T-Shirt courtesy of the NPAA. After the delivery of gifts, the youngsters moved to open grass and practiced their newly-learned casting skills. However, these young anglers were not casting into any open field; they were casting into a field littered with backyard bass! Cast after cast and fish after fish, these future anglers enjoyed themselves in the warm, spring weather of the Pierre, SD, area.
NPAA Anglers that helped with the event were Spencer Deutz #552, Zach Axtman #512, Chad Maloy #499 and Paul Steffen #848.
