National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) member Jesse Tintes and his team over at Tintes Outdoors recently received a well-deserved grant award from the Cabela’s Outdoor Fund. Once a year each Cabela’s store nominates one organization that is working to make a difference in the outdoors. NPAA member and Cabela’s marketing manager Danny Thompson worked several events with Jesse and his team this past year. He said, “It was an honor presenting Tintes Outdoors with a check to continue doing the work they do as a family”.
Jesse remembers the first time he checked out at Cabela’s and was asked “Would you like to round up you purchase to the nearest dollar for outdoor conservation and recreation. ” He hesitated for a second and his son Derek jumped in and said, ” It’s less than a dollar Dad and it’s for a good cause”. Ever since that day they have made it a habit to say yes each time they check out a Cabela’s. Little did they know they would one day be receiving those very “pennies” back in the form of a check for $3,800.
The funds will be used for a project Tintes Outdoors created to get more kids and veterans out ice fishing this winter. Each of their guests will now have electronics, rods in a rod bag, tackle and other items to borrow for the day while fishing in a heated portable fish house. The hub style fish houses and gear will also be used during Tintes Outdoors NPAA/Future Angler Foundation (FAF) kids fishing clinics.
Tintes Outdoors is a family organization. They spend their time conducting NPAA/FAF kids fishing clinics and volunteer guiding for kids and veterans all over the Midwest. Jesse and his two youngest sons Jacob (20) and Derek (17) travel together to most all of the events. His wife Brandi, oldest son Austin (22), mom Wendy and cousin Brandon Malmgren help out at local MN events.
Jesse also credits their success on the support they receive from their industry partners.
NPAA member Danny Petrie from NW Metro Tackle (Neon Lites Jigs) was the first partner to offer up support. Danny makes sure all the kids that fish with Tintes Outdoors have jigs to use and take home at the end of each event. Danny also recently donated jig packs for the veteran Cabela’s gift bags that Brandi and Wendy handed out at the Take A Vet Fishing event on Lake Minnetonka.
“The support from our market partners is amazing!” We could not do what we do without companies like 13 Fishing, Striker Elements & Striker Ice, Exel-Outdoors, Engel Coolers, Vexilar, Eskimo Ice Fishing, NW Metro Tackle and the support from the NPAA/FAF.
“There is no way we could do our open water volunteer work without our Alumacraft Trophy 175. The jump seats in the Trophy series gives us the ability to have 6 people in a seat and protected from the elements behind the windshield. During each event we have at least two from Tintes Outdoors in the boat with 2-3 veterans or a couple of young angers and their parents. Safety at our events is paramount and our Alumacraft has always provided us a safe platform during our open water events.”
