“Walleyes for Warriors” ,Veterans Park – Bay City, MI – June 18-19
This is a recreational therapy event for 140-175 Purple Heart and disabled Veterans. 90 boats will be taking approximately 175 Purple Heart and disabled Veterans out on Saginaw Bay for a day of fishing. These boaters are completely volunteering their boats, fuel and time to express a thank you to the Veterans for what they have done for you and our country.
Soaring Eagle Casino and Advance- Tex-Screen Printing are our presenting sponsors.
Soaring Eagle Casino will be furnishing and catering a pig roast at the park after the boats have returned from fishing for the Boat Captains and Veterans fishing in the event. Mike Avery of Michigan Magazine will MC the main event.
Colors will be held Saturday morning on the water by the USCG before the boats take off for the bay fishing. A few motorcycle groups whose mission is to ensure our nation does not set aside the needs of veterans and their families, will be posted in certain areas as boats return to the Vet’s Park. Members of these Motorcycle groups will be holding American Flags to honor and show the veterans respect and to represent a welcome home to our troops as well. The Boats with the Veterans will be escorted back to Veterans Park in Bay City by the USCG after a days fishing on the Saginaw Bay.
Michigan Military Vehicle Preservation Association has just jumped on board to show up to Walleyes for Warriors. http://www.mimvpa.org/mimvpa/Photos.htm
The National Guard will be supplying one of their tents for the weigh in activities as well as helping out in other ways throughout the event.

Any residual proceeds will go to benefit the Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Brain Injury Association of Michigan Veteran’s programs to help our returning combatants by “Creating a Better Future through Education, Advocacy, Research, Support and Prevention”.
