Fargo, ND-Fargo- Moorhead based fishing club, FM Walleyes Unlimited, INC., held two free youth fishing seminars March 8th-9th, 2014, at the Fargo Sportsman’s Show. Over 130 kids and their parents attend the seminar: “Why Fishing is Fun.”
FM Walleyes Youth Education Coordinator, Spencer Deutz NPAA#552, and FM Walleyes Vice President and Sponsorship Coordinator, Kyle Agre NPAA#664, led the interactive seminars with each child walking away with a tackle prize.
The youngsters learned fishing safety rules, fishing locations, tackle and equipment usage, how to identify different species of fish, casting techniques, backyard bass, and tips on how to keep invasive species away from our favorite waterways. The kids in attendance were very vocal about their affinity for the sport, shouting “we love fishing,” a mantra that echoed off the walls and through the halls of the 214,000 square foot Fargodome.
The event was a huge success! FM Walleyes is planning its next youth seminar event in late April at Courts Plus Community Fitness Center in Fargo. More details to come.
