Minneapolis, Minn. (May 13, 2014) – The first of the biggest pro-angler walleye tournaments is in the books for 2014, and the winner (not surprisingly!) is one of the All-Star Walleye School instructors¬-Dan Stier. Stier bested a field of 104 Cabela’s National Walleye Tour professional anglers to win the first event of the season. He won it by making strategic adjustments to dial in on the big fish that it would take to win. Not settling for four-, five- or six-pound fish, he kept at it until he got on the seven-plus-pounders. Students in the All-Star Walleye School will learn from Stier and the other pro anglers including: Bill Shimota (who came in third place at the same event), Brian “Bro” Brosdahl, Mark Courts, Kevin McQuoid, Eric Olson, Korey Sprenger and Jason Przekurat (assuming a full class of 16 students). The All-Star Walleye School will run August 12 – 15, 2014 at the Lodge at Leathem Smith in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Space is available but limited; interested students should be sure to reserve their spot and get ready to fish on the renowned Bay of Green Bay.
Four on-the-water classroom sessions in the pros’ Ranger Boats, experiencing the best-of-the-best in rigging and equipment, as well as seven classroom settings at the Lodge will ramp up any angler’s skill to get on walleyes. The curriculum will cover different bodies of water at different times of the year.
“We talk about a number of techniques and how we make decisions,” shared Chip Leer, host of the school. Leer is also the emcee for the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour (NWT) and has a history of handing Dan Stier big checks and trophies on stage. “I’ve known Dan Stier for a long time and he is an extremely resourceful and hard-working walleye pro. He finds fish, even if that means thinking through the challenges to get on the right ones to win.” Space is limited and packages include lodging. Pricing starts at $775 per person. Interested parties should contact Chip Leer at 218-547-4714 or e-mail: [email protected].
