World Walleye Association Regional Championships to be at Big Stone Lake and the Illinois River

Fond Du Lac, WI – Steve Poll, Executive Director of the World Walleye Association has announced that the East Regional Championship will be September 24th and 25th on the Illinois River at Henry, Illinois and the West Regional Championship will be October 8th and 9th on Big Stone Lake at Ortonville, Minnesota. “We are very excited about the locations of the Regional Championships.” Said Poll, “Big Stone Lake has some excellent numbers of walleyes with the potential of big fish. And just about every technique can produce the winning basket.” Poll continued, “Going to the Illinois River in the fall will be a change for many anglers as most circuits only fish there in the spring. Everyone knows the Illinois’ potential for Sauger but will a team be able to catch any of those big Walleyes that are in the Illinois River, we will see.”Teams that fished at least two one-day qualifiers in a particular division or regional open event will be eligible to fish the Regional Championship for that division.The top twenty teams based on total points after each Regional Championship and the top five finishing teams based on position of finish at each Regional Championship will be invited to fish the World Walleye Association National Championship in the spring of 2006.Further details about the regional championships will be announced in the coming days on the WWA website www.worldwalleye.com.
