OCONTO, Wis., July 26, 2012- Yamaha pro angler Joe Okada and his father Dave won their first championship together at the AIM Pro Team Challenge this past weekend. After years of fishing walleye tournaments together, the father and son combination put together a big-time final day to win the $23,000 grand prize.

The Okadas pulled in the second highest single-day total of the tournament with 53.09 pounds to pass day-two leaders and finish with a three-day total of 135.52 pounds.
“We have fished the MWC (Masters Walleye Circuit) for five or six years and had some good tournaments, but we’ve never quite got it done,” son Joe Okada said. “Our first major win together, the AIM circuit, everything has been so awesome. It feels amazing.”
Second place in the tournament went to Yamaha/Skeeter Pro angler Robert Blosser and his brother Josh, with a finish of 130.61 pounds.

“We were right next to the Blossers, and they were just whaling on them, catching 7-pounders and 5-pounders,” Joe Okada said. “Finally, one by one, about every 45 minutes, the board would go back hitting on our cranks, and we just stuck with it.”
The Pro Team Challenge is a new event for the AIM Professional Walleye Series. This event paired teams with a co-angler allowing for six lines in the water rather than the standard four of most team events.
