Ponca City, Okla.-April 17, 2014-Zippo Manufacturing Company, maker of the legendary lighter synonymous with surefire performance for more than eight decades, has renewed the promotional partnership of its Zippo Outdoor lineup with the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit for the third consecutive season.

“We are extremely proud to welcome Zippo Outdoor back as an official sponsor for 2014,” said Kelly Gohman, VP of sales and marketing for the Cabela’s MWC. “They have been a great supporter of the circuit, including our youth outreach and conservation efforts. Plus, their rugged products are perfect for our hard-fishing competitors, as well as the legions of fans following them across our media platforms.”

Zippo Outdoor brand manager Chris Funk shared Gohman’s enthusiasm, and sees the circuit as the ideal proving ground for Zippo’s ever-expanding family of extreme-duty outdoor gear. “We’re excited to showcase products like our Rugged Lantern and Hand Warmers in the often-challenging weather conditions that competitors face on the walleye tournament trail. And to do it all in association with Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter, is truly a winning combination.”

Like Zippo’s iconic windproof lighter, which has unwaveringly served generations of customers in more than 160 countries and recently surpassed the 500 million milestone, the Zippo Outdoor lineup is designed for flawless performance no matter the weather. For example, the Rugged Lantern can withstand a five-foot drop, floats if accidentally knocked overboard, and meets IPX7 standards for water immersion-all while cutting the darkness with the brightest light of any LED lantern.

As a bonus for anglers fishing the team-format Cabela’s MWC trail, which spans 10 tournaments in seven states across the Walleye Belt, Zippo offers the “Zippo Outdoor Hot Hand Award,” which rewards the team weighing the largest fish of each tournament with $250 worth of Zippo Outdoors products through zippo.com.

Founded in 1984, the Cabela’s MWC is the oldest team tournament circuit in the walleye world. It has a rich history of intense competition on top destinations, plus youth programs and a lasting legacy of conservation that includes more than $300,000 in donations to fisheries projects in states where its tournaments are held.

Under the umbrella of The Walleye Federation (TWF), the Cabela’s MWC is open to anglers from all walks of life. In addition to direct experiential marketing opportunities, circuit sponsors enjoy a variety of additional activation options. “Zippo is capitalizing on family outreach for its outdoor products at our youth fishing clinics, as well as extensive television promotions-watch for the Zippo-wrapped Ranger on the Pursuit network and NBC Sports this season!” said Gohman.

Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter for hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, is in its 12th season as title sponsor. Official sponsors include: Berkley Gulp!, Lowe Equipment Attachments, Lowrance Electronics, Mercury Marine, MotorGuide, Ranger Boats, The Walleye Federation and Zippo Outdoor Brands.
