Bass Pro Shops Go Outdoors event helps families prep for summer fun

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – For those who have been dreaming about summer camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing, picnicking and more, Bass Pro Shops Go Outdoors event and sale provides a great opportunity to learn new skills and then gear up. Go Outdoors, which will be held May 16-24 at participating Bass Pro Shops stores* throughout the U.S. and Canada, offers free how-to seminars, giveaways, great deals, and a chance to win an outdoors getaway to Crystal Coast, North Carolina.
The Go Outdoors event offers a variety of free activities and seminars for kids and adults that are designed to teach new outdoor skills and improve existing ones. On May 16-17, kids can enjoy the following free adventure activities during the Go Outdoors event:
Saturday, May 16:
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Kids can catch fish for free at Bass Pro Shops special catch and release pond. Kids visiting the Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Anchorage, Alaska, Bass Pro Shops stores can practice their skills at the casting pond.
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Free kids’ crafts include coloring an outdoor draw pack (while supplies last).
Beginning at 4 p.m. – Adventure Scavenger Hunt. Find outdoor-themed clues throughout the store. Find them all and receive a free carabiner compass, while supplies last.
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Free photo downloads. Choices include being featured on the cover with the catch of the day or a fun “raccoon photo bomb” version.
Beginning at 1:30 p.m. – The Boy Scouts will demonstrate proper backpack prep and packing.**
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Sample delicious funnel cakes.
2 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Fried fish samples available.
Sunday, May 17:
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Kids can catch fish for free at Bass Pro Shops special catch and release pond. Kids visiting the Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Anchorage, Alaska, Bass Pro Shops stores can practice their skills at the casting pond.
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Free kids’ crafts include coloring an outdoor-themed flyer (while supplies last).
Beginning at 4 p.m. – Adventure Scavenger Hunt. Find outdoor-themed clues throughout the store. Find them all and receive a free carabiner compass, while supplies last.
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Free photo downloads. Choices include being featured on the cover with the catch of the day or a fun “raccoon photo bomb” version.
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Dutch oven cooking.
Plus, the first 150 kids to complete a punch card each day can receive the Kids’ Outdoors Collection Bucket with Magnifying Glass.
Free how-to seminars for the entire family are available May 23-24.

11 a.m. – Capable Kayaking. Family kayaking fun; learn the basics.
2 p.m. – Local Trails & Treasures. Where to go for family outings. Explore your local outdoors and parks, waterways, trails and more.
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Sample delicious funnel cakes.
2 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Fried fish samples available.
Sunday, May 24:
11 a.m. – Conquering Campfire Cooking. Want to cook tasty meals over the campfire? Learn best practices, procedures and cookware.
2 p.m. – Kids and Camping. Plan equipment and more to make camping fun, comfortable and exciting for kids.
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Dutch oven cooking
The first 25 customers who are 18 years of age or older to attend a seminar each day can receive a free Bass Pro Shops mug (styles may vary).
Everyone over the age of 21 is invited to enter for a chance to win the Ultimate Outdoors Giveaway. One lucky winner will receive:
