DNR safety experts remind hunters to practice firearm safety before planning their trips for the upcoming deer season, especially when handling firearms.
TAB-K is designed to help you quickly remember the four basic rules of firearm safety.
T= Treat every firearm as if it is loaded
A= Always point the muzzle in a safe direction
B= Be certain of your target, what’s before it, and what’s beyond it
K = Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until safe to shoot
By following these rules, hunters limit the chance of accidents.
And don’t forget — make sure that clothing, like your blaze orange or fluorescent pink-colored gear, isn’t faded and other equipment is properly inspected for any signs of wear and tear.
Safe hunting is no accident. Enjoy the upcoming season!
