Scouting winter whitetail patterns can deliver a high degree of Fall success – if you do not let your focus stray too far! Learning the exact deer movements that travel adjacent to every stand location is an all year scouting effort, and that includes the Winter months. Leaving trail cams out all Winter and making sure that you pay attention to movements in and around your stand locations, is far more important than searching Winter habitat for your next great shed find. While shed hunting can be an outstanding activity, it doesn’t necessarily reveal a majority of the time, where that particular buck spends his time during the hunting season. You can never spend too much time scouting whitetail bucks and whether on foot or by trail cam, the Winter months are no exception
